March is Women's History Month, a time to celebrate the achievements of women and reflect on the strides we continue to make toward equality. This year’s theme, "Moving Forward Together," focuses on women who are educating and inspiring the next generations. At Hotspex Media, we are lucky to work alongside inspiring women who not only excel in their roles but also have side passions and creative pursuits that enrich their lives and the lives of those around them.
In honour of Women's History Month, we’re spotlighting a few of these amazing women, sharing their words of advice for others looking to explore their own hobbies, side gigs, or passion projects.
Rachelle - VP, People Experience and Wellness
Passion Project: Yoga Teacher
Rachelle, who has been with Hotspex Media for 1.5 years, became a certified yoga teacher during the pandemic, and it’s been one of the best decisions she’s made. Yoga teaching has become an essential part of her routine, where she gets to be creative in building classes that cater to all levels, helping people connect with themselves and their bodies.
What Rachelle loves most about it:
Building classes offers a unique creative outlet. It can be a challenge to curate accessible, modifiable classes geared to all levels, and it’s so rewarding to see folks of all levels taking
A word of advice from Rachelle:
"Research training programs that are aligned with your values! For me it was a focus on anatomy, inclusivity, and understanding and honoring yoga’s eastern roots. Don’t neglect your own practice while you’re on your teacher training/teaching journey. Self-care isn’t selfish, and the more you pour into yourself, the more your teaching style will reflect that."
Priyanka Samtani - Senior Campaign Manager
Passion Project: Beauty Content Creator
Priyanka, who’s been with Hotspex Media for 1.5 years, is a content creator on the side, reviewing skincare, makeup, and lifestyle products. She’s passionate about testing new products and sharing her honest, unfiltered opinions with her audience. Filming, editing, and engaging with the beauty community has been an exciting creative outlet for her.
What Priyanka loves most about it:
She enjoys the creative process—filming and editing reels, writing reviews, and engaging with her community. It’s also a fun way to discover new products and connect with brands and fellow beauty enthusiasts.
A word of advice from Priyanka:
"Just start! You don’t need fancy equipment or a huge following. I only use my phone and a tripod. Be authentic, experiment with different styles, and engage with your audience. Consistency is key, but so is having fun with it!"
Ivana Vidakovic - Client Success Manager
Passion Project: Wedding Venue Server & Event Coordinator
Ivana has been with Hotspex Media for just 4 months and works as a server and bartender at a wedding venue in Kitchener. She often takes on event coordination duties, contributing to the smooth flow of weddings and special events. The high-energy environment of weddings brings her joy and adds an exciting dimension to her otherwise desk-bound role.
What Ivana loves most about it:
Ivana enjoys being part of couples’ special days and appreciates the camaraderie with her coworkers. The job provides a dynamic environment, offering a break from the usual office setting and giving her a chance to get active outside her desk job.
A word of advice from Ivana:
"Absolutely do it, but make sure it is something that really fills your cup because pairing both can be exhausting so you need something that you'll still want to do even when you're super tired from a busy week at work! Don’t worry if you're the type of person who has many different passions in life and isn't just in love with one thing. Allow yourself to explore whatever sparks your interest, life is too short!"
Whether it’s teaching yoga, reviewing beauty products, or coordinating events, their advice reminds us that pursuing what we love—whether professionally or on the side—is empowering.
